The Essential Swami Ramdas (Swami Ramdas)
The Enlightening and Inspirational Words of a Great Hindu Bhakti
[My 5-star Amazon review (NDA) of “The Essential Swami Ramdas” by Swami Ramdas.]
The Essential Swami Ramdas is an anthology of the writings of Swami Ramdas (1884-1963), a great twentieth-century Hindu bhakti (or devotional) yogi who attained Self-realization by ceaselessly repeating the mantra Om Sri Ram, Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram (which means, “God who is at once Truth and Power, victory to Thee, victory, victory to Thee”).
Ramdas’s writings are inspirational as well as enlightening. I first encountered them in his books World is God and Ramdas Speaks, which I read forty years ago. Then a few years ago, I bought The Essenial Swami Ramdas, to make sure it was a good recommendation for my students and readers--and it certainly is.
As a long-time yoga teacher, I strongly recommend this book for anyone interested in practicing or just learning about bhakti yoga.
