Spiritual Dharmas

by L. Ron Gardner

Over the past forty years, my passion has been the study of spiritual teachings, both ancient and contemporary. Once I got to the point where I felt I had utterly penetrated all Dharmas (which happened about ten years ago), my focus shifted from trying to put it together to figuring out how to restate the highest Truth in the clearest, most powerful way.

Once I understood the common trinitarian “structure” of the foremost Dharmas, I realized this “structure” was electrical in nature and mirrored Ohm’s Law. This realization inspired me to compose spiritual literature that reflects my understanding. I decided to first apply my Electrical Spiritual Paradigm to deconstructing Eckhart Tolle’s “Nowism,” and then to explicating Jesus Christ’s true Christianity. Now that I’ve done that, I will, in the next few years, focus my “electrical” efforts on Buddhism, Hinduism, and Judaism. My goal is to write spiritual literature that will--via my Ohm’s Law paradigm and radical Trinitarianism--explain the mystical, or yogic, essence of the major religions.

Anyone who reads my books will see that I’m partial to Hindu Kashmir Shaivism, Tibetan Buddhist Dzogchen, Christian Hermeticism, and Adi Da Samraj’s Daism. These esoteric Dharmas are trinitarian, and to my mind, represent the best of the triadic spiritual traditions. Although I’m also an expert in Zen and Advaita Vedanta, I’m not a big fan of these exclusive-reductive traditions. I am, however, a huge fan of Ramana Maharshi (1879-1950), but his teachings are not pure Advaita Vedanta. Ramana said Kundalini is just another name for the Self, and his identification of Consciousness as Energy, as Heart (or Hridaya)-Shakti , elevates his Dharma beyond the teachings of the one-dimensional (Awareness-only) Advaita gurus who have proceeded him.

Perhaps at some point, when I have the time and energy to do Dharma battle, I’ll going to start picking apart, one by one, the teachings of the big-name contemporary spiritual teachers. Because I enjoy polemics, it will be fun to exercise my intellect and deconstruct teachings that pass for high-level Dharma in New Age, Advaita Vedanta, and Buddhist circles. Dale Carnegie will be turning over in his grave, but I’ll be having a blast picking apart the various “Truth teachings” that masquerade as high-level Dharma. More importantly, I’ll be educating seekers about big-name spiritual gurus and their “products.” Maybe I’ll collect the essays and eventually publish them as a book. I could call it Pissing On (and Off) the Gurus. LOL.
